Northumberland Community Bank.
Northumberland Community Bank is a financial co-operative, for people, not profit. Their aim is to help customers borrow fairly so local people don’t have to resort to payday lenders and loan sharks. They’re not interested in squeezing the most out of people. They offer financial products and services to their members – a safe home for savings and affordable loans.
Northumberland County Council is working with the Community Bank as a Payroll Partner, meaning as a member of staff you can access the payroll deduction scheme.

Performance Appraisal & Supervision
As an employee of the council you will receive an annual performance appraisal and regular supervision meetings or 1:1’s with your manager. These provide the opportunity for you and your manager to jointly identify, plan and review the learning, development and support you may need to fulfil the requirements of your role effectively.
NCC Corporate Development Programme
It is really important that we invest in our employees and ensure that they have the right skills and competencies to do their job. There are many in-house opportunities available for NCC employees and together these form our Corporate Development Programme. These courses are free to and cover topics ranging from first aid training to project management and from customer service skills through to leadership.

With the help of a dedicated trainer or coach, you can acquire nationally acknowledged certifications that will be a lifelong asset, while also enhancing your technical skills, expanding your knowledge and applying it in real-life situations.
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a paid, real-world job that provides valuable learning experiences and skill development, ultimately preparing individuals for their chosen careers. Accessible to those aged 16 or older and not in full-time education, apprenticeships can range from 1 to 6 years based on the chosen level and individual experience.
Apprenticeships at NCC
The Northumberland County Council apprenticeship program enables participants to work for the council, developing their skills and knowledge while obtaining a qualification. Apprentices are employed by the council, earning a wage, following a training program, and receiving on and off the job training to ensure job competency. They are supported by an Apprenticeship Mentor who guides them throughout their journey.
Benefits of an apprenticeship
Apprenticeships cater to school leavers, career advancers, and those seeking a career change, and are available to those over 16 years old not in full-time education. Benefits include hands-on job experience, salary with holiday leave, tailored learning, and the opportunity to study for a recognized qualification with no tuition fees for 20% of work hours.
